🛠️ Devlog: v1.1 Update – Power-Ups, Abilities & Improved Gameplay Flow!


Hey everyone!
We’ve rolled out a big update for v1.1 of the game focused on improving gameplay dynamics, player progression, and polish. Here’s what’s new:


🚀 New Player Abilities (x5)

Players can now collect and activate timed abilities:

  • Speed Boost
  • 🦘 Jump Boost
  • 🔫 Fire Rate Boost
  • 🛡️ Shield (Visual + Functional)
  • ❤️ Health Boost

Each of these adds tactical depth and replay value!


🎯 Ability Drop System

  • Enemies now drop random abilities on death.
  • Adds a new layer of strategy by prioritizing certain enemies in the heat of battle.

🔫 Bullet Filtering (Polish)

  • Bullets now pass through ability drops thanks to proper layer masking — no more weird hitboxes!

🧠 Player Ability Manager

  • Centralized system handles timed effects like the fire rate boost and score multipliers.
  • Makes it easier to add more abilities in future updates.

🕒 GameStart Timer

  • A countdown now begins before gameplay starts.
  • Player & enemy behavior is delayed until the timer finishes for a smoother start.
  • Timer resets properly during pause, resume, or menu transitions.

🧮 2x Coin Ability & Score Multipliers

  • Added a coin boost ability that doubles coin value for a limited time.
  • ScoreManager updated to support dynamic multipliers tied to active abilities.

✅ Level Completion Logic Improved

  • Level now completes only after all coins and abilities are collected — no more early finishes!

🎯 System & Scene Polish

  • Fixed and optimized tags and layers (e.g., Ability_FireRate, Ability_Shield, etc.)
  • Cleaned up spawner logic: WaveSpawner only starts after countdown ends.
  • Game Over scene now displays final score and high score properly.
